At St Brendan’s School, our dynamic STEM program is designed to cultivate the curiosity, problem-solving skills, and collaborative spirit essential for success in the 21st century. We move beyond textbooks by offering students a wide range of engaging, hands-on activities and challenges that span Science, Design Technology, and Digital Technology.
Junior Years (Foundation – Year 2): We spark early creativity and design thinking. Students utilize various materials, like LEGO and plasticine, for creative problem-solving. They build and design functional items like birdhouses and dioramas, directly applying scientific knowledge. Our introduction to coding begins with the fun, foundational logic of Blue-Bots.
Middle and Senior Years (Years 3 – 6): Students dive deep into complex scientific concepts and advanced digital tools. They master 3D Design and bring their creations to life using our 3D printer. Real-world problem-solving is tackled through practical coding using Edison robots. Students become expert communicators, sharing their innovative work with parents through creative apps like Show Me and Explain Everything.
